Vitarubin Oral wird vergütet bei Erwachsenen zur Therapie des nachgewiesenen Vitamin B12-Mangels, beispielsweise bei Perniziöser Anämie, nach Magenresektion, bei Dünndarmerkrankungen oder Therapie mit Aminosalicylsäure.
Vor Therapiebeginn muss die Diagnose gesichert sowie ein gleichzeitig bestehender Folsäure und/oder Eisenmangel ärztlich abgeklärt und gegebenenfalls substituiert sein. Vor Therapiebeginn muss in Abhängigkeit von der klinischen Symptomatik die Angemessenheit einer oralen versus einer parenteralen Substitution abgewogen werden. Der Therapieerfolg soll in regelmässigen Abständen ärztlich überwacht werden (siehe Rubrik «Warnhinweise und Vorsichtsmassnahmen).
