Die Therapie mit PRUCALOPRID SPIRIG HC ist für Erwachsene (>18 Jahre) vorgesehen, welche auf eine Vorbehandlung mit mindestens 2 Laxantien verschiedener Klassen über einen Zeitraum von mindestens 9 Monaten nicht angesprochen haben. Falls die Behandlung nach 4 Wochen nicht erfolgreich war (Zunahme der Stuhlfrequenz um mindestens 1 spontane Darmentleerung pro Woche), so muss das Präparat abgesetzt werden. Die maximale Therapiedauer beträgt 12 Wochen. Die Therapie mit PRUCALOPRID SPIRIG HC > 12 Wochen bedarf der Kostengutsprache durch den Krankenversicherer nach vorgängiger Konsultation des Vertrauensarztes. Für die Behandlung mit PRUCALOPRID SPIRIG HC ist keine neue Kostengutsprache nötig, wenn in derselben Indikation bereits eine Kostengutsprache für das Originalpräparat oder ein anderes Generikum besteht.

Gesamthaft zugelassen 2 Kleinpackungen oder 1 Grosspackung. Von dieser Beschränkung ist die Behandlung der Obstipation aufgrund von Opioidtherapie, von Parkinsontherapie sowie diejenige der Obstipation von Patienten, die Antidepressiva oder Neuroleptika unterstellt sind, ausgenommen. Im Weiteren sind davon ausgenommen Para- und Tetraplegiker.
