- Als Monotherapie, für Patienten, welche mit den bisherigen oralen Therapien nur ungenügend eingestellt werden können oder diese nicht vertragen.
- Als Zweifachkombination ausschliesslich mit Metformin oder einem Sulfonylharnstoff, wenn mit Metformin oder Sulfonylharnstoff alleine keine ausreichende Kontrolle der Glykämie erreicht werden kann.
- Als Dreifachkombination mit einer Kombination aus Metformin und einem Sulfonylharnstoff, wenn mit der Zweifachkombination mit diesen Substanzen keine ausreichende Kontrolle der Glykämie erreicht werden kann.
- In Kombination mit Insulin (mit oder ohne Metformin), wenn durch diese Massnahmen keine ausreichende Kontrolle der Glykämie erreicht wird.
