- Als Monotherapie, für Patienten, welche mit den bisherigen oralen Therapien nur ungenügend eingestellt werden können oder diese nicht vertragen.
- Als Zweifachkombination mit folgenden Therapieoptionen, wenn mit diesen Behandlungen keine ausreichende Kontrolle der Glykämie erreicht werden kann:
- mit Metformin oder
- mit einem Sulfonylharnstoff (SU) oder
- mit Thiazolidindione (TZD)
- Als Dreifachkombination mit Metformin und einem Sulfonylharnstoff, wenn mit der Zweifachkombination mit diesen Substanzen keine ausreichende Kontrolle der Glykämie erreicht werden kann.
- In Kombination mit Insulin (mit oder ohne Metformin), wenn mit einer stabilen Dosis Insulin keine ausreichende Kontrolle der Glykämie erreicht werden kann.
