Behandlung der chronischen Hyperurikämie bei Erkrankungen, die bereits zu Uratablagerungen geführt haben (einschliesslich eines aus der Krankengeschichte bekannten oder aktuell vorliegenden Gichtknotens und/oder einer Gichtarthritis) bei erwachsenen Patienten, bei denen Allopurinol sich als nicht genügend wirksam erweist oder die auf Grund von Nebenwirkungen und Unverträglichkeiten mit Allopurinol nicht behandelt werden können. Die maximale tägliche Dosierung beträgt 80 mg.
