- als Erstlinientherapie zur Behandlung der chronischen Eisenüberladung auf Grund häufiger Transfusionen bei Patienten mit Beta-Thalassämia major.
- für die Behandlung von weiteren chronischen, transfusionsbedingten Eisenüberladungen, wenn eine Deferoxamin-Therapie kontraindiziert oder unangemessen ist.
- für die Behandlung der chronischen Eisenüberladung bei Patienten mit nicht transfusionsabhängigen Thalassämie-Syndromen im Alter von 10 Jahren und älter, wenn eine Deferoxamin-Therapie kontraindiziert oder unangemessen ist.
Therapien, die vor der Einführung der angepassten Limitierung (1. Juni 2023) begonnen wurden, werden weiterhin vergütet, sofern es sich um eine Behandlung entsprechend der von Swissmedic zugelassenen Indikation handelt.
