In frühen Stadien der Parkinson-Krankheit als Zweitlinientherapeutikum zur Behandlung von Patienten, die auf eine Therapie mit Levodopa-Präparaten, Dopaminagonisten (Nicht-Ergotaminverbindungen) oder MAO-B-Hemmer unzureichend angesprochen haben, bei denen diese Therapie kontraindiziert ist oder die diese Therapie nicht tolerieren.

Therapie im Frühstadium (1.-2. Krankheitstag) bei Erwachsenen und Kindern ab 5 Jahren. Voraussetzung der Anwendung von Symmetrel ist, dass eine ärztliche Kontrolle sowohl der Einzelpersonen wie auch des Kollektivs gegeben ist.
