Bei Personen über 75 Jahren wird eine neu beginnende Statin-Therapie nur vergütet im Rahmen der Sekundärprävention kardiovaskulärer Ereignisse sowie im Rahmen der Primärprävention bei Personen mit hohem oder sehr hohem Risiko nach AGLA-Risikokategorie.
Simvastatin-Mepha wird zudem vergütet bei Kindern und Jugendlichen im Alter von 10-17 Jahren bei heterozygoter familiärer Hypercholesterinämie zusätzlich zur Diät, wenn diese und andere nicht-pharmakologische Massnahme (wie Fitnesstraining und Gewichtsreduktion) keine ausreichende Wirkung erbringen. Jungen sollten mindestens im Tanner-Stadium II sein. Mädchen sollten mindestens 1 Jahr nach der Menarche sein.
