- Behandlung manischer und depressiver Episoden bei bipolaren Störungen (Akutbehandlung und Rückfallprophylaxe).

Für Patienten, die unzureichend auf die Monotherapie mit mindestens einem Antidepressivum angesprochen haben, im Sinne einer Augmentationsstrategie nach einer gemäss gängigen klinischen Guidelines durchgeführten antidepressiven Therapie. Als Alternative zur Lithiumtherapie bei unzureichendem Ansprechen auf eine Lithiumtherapie, bei bestehender Kontraindikation für eine Lithiumtherapie und bei depressiven Patienten mit psychotischen Symptomen. Vor Beginn der Therapie sollte der behandelnde Arzt das Sicherheitsprofil von Quetiapin-Mepha retard abwägen.
