Nur zur second-line Behandlung der Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS), d.h. bei Unverträglichkeit, Kontraindikation oder nicht Ansprechen von Methylphenidat bei Kindern ab 6 Jahren und Jugendlichen bis 18 Jahren im Rahmen einer therapeutischen Gesamtstrategie. Die Diagnose, der Beginn sowie die Überwachung der Behandlung erfolgt durch einen Facharzt der Kinder- und Jugendpsychiatrie und -psychotherapie, einen Facharzt der Kinder- und Jugendmedizin mit Schwerpunkt Entwicklungspädiatrie oder einen Facharzt der Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie. Wenn Patienten über 1 Jahr hinaus behandelt werden, so hat eine erneute Überprüfung der Behandlungsnotwendigkeit durch einen der genannten Fachärzte zu erfolgen.
